The issue of President Obama’s birth certificate not withstanding; America as a concept and ongoing cultural experiment is a remarkable place to be.
America is who she is because of the diversity of her citizens and the passion of their arguments. I do not worry about my native country’s need to argue with itself. Knowing that the world is always watching and judging is intriguing.
Like a dysfunctional family, we fight and we battle. But when the dinner bell rings, we take our place at the table.
